“You are what you eat.” We have all heard that phrase since emerging from the womb, right? In fact we have heard it so often that most of us have tuned it out, are numb to it, never give it a second thought. It’s just something we know. And that’s really the point. We have been told that we are what we eat so often (and have repeated it ourselves countless times), that it has become part of our identity and our belief system.
What if we looked at that phrase in a broader way? What if we updated it to be something like “You are what you consume.” What you eat – sure. But what about what you hear (including words you say to yourself!), what you see, maybe even what you breathe? How does that change your perspective about the environment you are creating for yourself?
Many of us try to eat healthy food and drink plenty of water. Check. We are on a roll! Are we always as mindful about the shows we watch, the social media and news feeds we consume, the books we read, the music we listen to, the people and energy we surround ourselves with? Are we discerning about the words we say to ourselves about how we look, about our capacity for change and transformation, about our ability to attract abundance in the forms of joy, money, love, community, etc.?
I invite you to pause, take a few healthy, cleansing breaths and consider this. How are you raising your vibe to match your intention for transformation? Where are there parts of your universe that need a spring cleaning, a remodel, a re-imagination, a reboot? How are your physical surroundings serving you? Who are the people you have chosen for your tribe? What kind of media, personal development and entertainment materials are you consuming? And probably most importantly – how do you speak to yourself on a daily basis about your body, about your goals, about your prospects for success, about your dreams and your ability to achieve them? Find those positive and loving phrases that you can repeat to yourself over and over again – and just like “You are what you eat,” they will eventually become automatic, a given, just part of your identity and how you show up in the world.
“I am happy.” “I am healthy.” “I love my body.” “I attract abundance.” “I always make the best decisions.” “I attract positivity.” “I am strong.” “I am kind.” “I succeed with ease.” “I am beautiful.” “I manifest my dreams.” “I am inspiring.” “Everything always works out for me.”
Go forth and be B.R.A.V.E.!
